IMPLEMENT SYSTEM IN SMALL SCALE wood energy: NEW FOREST OPTION

Indigenous communities by custom cut down timber species to cook food through the consumption of firewood., that's why, which seeks to sensitize them to reduce the environmental impact and raise their awareness of the applicability of new agricultural practices in their environment, without separating them from their culture and traditional customs, Environmental education processes will be implemented to reduce the risks due to the effects of climate variation, like drought, the generation of forest fires, habitat fragmentation, soil deterioration, inter alia.

That's why, that Corpoguajira, in agreement with Asopagua, has been implementing a pilot system of small-scale wood energy crops with native tree species such as trupillo (prosopis juliflora) and brazil (Caesalpinia echinata), inter alia; that contain a high degree of caloric value and are efficient for use in food preparation. In total, establishment and isolation will be done 200 hectares, taking on each property 2,5 hectares.

It is noteworthy that this type of agroforestry techniques will have adequate maintenance by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira together with the benefited communities., which will ensure the sustainability of the pilot system over time. Furthermore, it is important to note that we search in the same way, mitigate greenhouse gases and reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

This system will be implemented in indigenous communities, settled in the municipalities of Maicao (Carraipia), Manaure ( Aremashin) and Riohacha ( to the market), benefiting around 80 families.

Dendroenérgetico: Plantations whose purpose is to produce biomass, i.e., transformed into raw material to produce bioenergy for industrial or domestic consumption.
