The project is being carried out between the mouth of the Palomino River and Dibulla. The identified clutches were cared for at all times., to prevent looting by residents of the region, natural predators and climatic phenomena.

During the chelonian introduction event, Corpoguajira and Asocars, The Environmental Peasant NGO of Palomino Y and the students of the San Antonio Rural Institution will give a special recognition, as adoptive godparents of the Sponsor a Turtle and Carry it in your Heart program, and the company Guajira Tours, which is linked as Corporate Godfather.

Due to the large amount of seagrass existing in La Guajira, Four species of sea turtles live on the peninsula: Chelonia midas (green turtle), Eretmochelys dressed (Carey), Dermochelys coriacea (Canal) y Cartetta caretta (gogo). These animals reach sexual maturity between 15 and 20 years old, The pair copulates in the sea and the female nests on the beach around 155 eggs per clutch.
