During the last days, officials of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, They returned to their natural habitat several wild species that for various reasons were deprived of their freedom. They were in total 59 canaries, 2 babillas, 2 raccoons and an anteater, the animals that were released after some of them were handed over to the environmental authority by the National Police.

All the animals regained their freedom in the area known as the Sequión. The canaries were released after being rescued by the Police from the hands of wildlife traffickers in the municipality of Maicao., while the raccoons were relocated following a request from the Almirante Padilla Airport, where they were interfering with the lines of the Control tower. The slugs were introduced into Caño Lagarto (Dibulla).
