
The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira -Corpoguajira- works daily for the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity. At Present, has been joining efforts with different institutions that contribute to the conservation of sea turtles, endangered and threatened species due to ocean pollution, Fishing, climate change, natural disasters and even illegal trade.
In conjunction with Petrobras, Ecopetrol, Sea World, The Jorge Tadeo Lozano University and the Peasant NGO of Palomino, they were released 58 sea turtles in the village of Palomino, jurisdiction of Dibulla. Of turtles returned to their natural habitat 57 they were loggerhead (Caretta caretta) and a green (Chelonia mydas) of 16 months and a size of approximately 32 cms.
The general director, Samuel Lanao Robles, He was pleased with the conference “we are happy and grateful to the members of these institutions because we return to their natural habitat 58 sea turtles".
He also stressed that the Corporation has been exercising environmental authority with operations in conjunction with the public force in order to control traffic, consumption, transport and capture of sea turtles within the jurisdiction.
Corpoguajira invites the community to continue increasing sensitivity towards endangered species, report ownership, hunting and sale to promote the conservation and protection of natural resources, especially those species that are threatened.
