6 PINK FLAMINGO back to their natural habitat

Six pink flamingos (Phonicopterus ruber) approximately four years were released into the protected area Musichi.

These individuals were given a year ago by the Regional Autonomous Corporations Santander (CAS) and Magdalena (CORPAMAG), because Guajira is favorable habitat for the species. Thanks to articulate with said CAR, Corpoguajira was able to successfully rehabilitate them who had been victims of illegal wildlife trafficking.

Once the six individuals have been received, The entity immediately activated security protocols for the care of the species. The process began with a medical-veterinary assessment by specialists at the Hogar de Paso (Riohacha) and were subsequently sent to the Agroecological and Ecotourism Center of Jerez., where they lasted approximately a year in an arduous process of feather recovery and rehabilitation to be returned to their natural habitat..

At Corpoguajira we are committed to the conservation of these endemic species of the Department of La Guajira..
