6,5 tons of post-consumer waste were collected in La Guajira

In the event, led by Corpoguajira, more than 118 organizaciones, companies and public and private institutions.

The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, confirmed that during the post-consumer waste collection day, 6,5 tons of these items, which had already completed their useful life, including household appliances, pesticides, medicines, lead acid batteries, batteries and / or accumulators, tires, light bulbs and computers and / or peripherals.

La actividad, made during the days 6 and 7 October in 12 municipalities in the department, Its purpose was to reduce the environmental impact generated by these wastes and to raise awareness among companies and citizens in general about the importance of making a final disposal of them to avoid health effects.

The event, led by Corpoguajira had the support of local authorities and cleaning operators. In addition, they joined 118 organizaciones, companies and public and private institutions. The commitment of the community and their attendance at the collection points were fundamental aspects to achieve the success of the day.

It should be noted that the municipalities set up temporary collection centers, while the process of safe transportation and final disposal takes place, as indicated by the standard for each of the elements.

The environmental authority of La Guajira carries out this collection day every year, also extends the invitation to the general population to dispose of correctly, at the end of its useful life, saving bulbs, fluorescent tubes, high intensity discharge bulbs, computers, portable, hard drives, monitors, printers, USB flash drives, Battery, expired medications, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, inter alia.
