The initiative has the support of the Ministry of Environment and the environmental authorities of the Caribbean region.

For the seventh time in a row the entries for the Gemas Environmental Prize are officially open, organized by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Atlantic, in partnership with private enterprise Ultracem.

This initiative seeks to strengthen the green economy, environmental research and education, through actions that promote the care of our ecosystems. As well as promoting the environmental management of people, organizations and entities that have managed to establish themselves as a benchmark for environmental leadership and that demonstrate successful initiatives in the public-private union.

The event has the support of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the other environmental authorities of the Caribbean region: Corpoguajira, Corpocesar, CVS, CBS,Corpomojana, Corpomag and Coralina.
Registrations are open until 14 August 2021, where teachers can participate, researchers, environmental leaders, foundations, Business, green business, journalists and the media.

The categories in which they can participate are: Environmental citizen, Version School Environmental Education, Environmental Education and Research, Green Business and Environmental Journalism. In addition to two new categories called "Atlantic Breathes Environment" and "Caribbean Region, Sustainable Territory ", which will have Córdoba as a guest department.

Corpoguajira invites citizens to register in any of these categories and continue supporting the environmental initiatives that are developed in the departments of the Caribbean region., to continue rewarding the commitment to the environment.

It should be noted that the proposals must originate and be developed in one of the departments or cities that make up the Colombian Caribbean.. Registrations are made on the web portal www.premiogemas.com. The winners in each category may receive between $2 and $10 millones.
