Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, Corpoguajira, continues to implement actions to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change in the region, jointly with the Association of Professionals and Environmentalists of La Guajira, "Asopaguja". In this regard, The construction of a suitable structure for the production of organic fertilizer is underway through known techniques for obtaining compost., a natural product resulting from the decomposition of materials of plant or animal origin that has the ability to improve soil fertility and at the same time nourish plants.
It should be noted that the installation of 4 structures throughout the area of influence of the project, (Riohacha, India, Manaure and Dibulla) , where they will benefit around 300 families settled in the lower basins of the Tapias and DMI Rio Ranchería rivers. As a result of this initiative, It is intended that the production of fertilizer be for community use and allow families, integrate, share and put into practice principles such as solidarity, community participation and associativity, with the other members of the region.
Ecological benefits of organic fertilizers:

- If the land is sandy it makes it firmer.
- They help retain rainwater.
- They give more types of nutrients and the roots can take them
- They increase the thickness of the stems and size of the fruits.
- They affirm the colors of stems, leaves and fruits.

- Nutrients remain for 2 ó 3 years on the plot.
- They increase and affirm the flavor and smell of the fruits.
- They increase the quantity and quality of proteins in the fruits.
