Warning about possible tropical depression in the Caribbean Sea

has a probability of 40% to become a tropical depression in the next two days and from 90% that such evolution occurs in the course of the next 5 días

In accordance with the climatological monitoring of the Ideam and the Early Warning System, coordinated by Corpoguajira, there is an area of disturbance of meteorological conditions, associated with the transit of a tropical wave located over the center of the tropical Atlantic Ocean, with activity that generates rain and thunderstorms.

Currently it has a probability of 40% to become a tropical depression in the next two days and from 90% that such evolution occurs in the course of the next 5 días.
In this sense, It is expected that with the transit of this tropical wave, in addition to its possible evolution, Precipitation will increase starting tomorrow (Tuesday 28 de junio), with the highest volumes estimated in the middle and end of the week in La Guajira, Cease, Magdalena, Atlantic, Bolívar and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Therefore, It is recommended to be attentive to possible effects due to heavy rains.

Therefore, Corpoguajira and the Early Warning System, Disaster Risk Management Councils invited (departmental and municipal) to take the necessary preventive measures and be attentive to updated communications from the authorities.

In case of precipitation, The environmental authority recommends that the community remain calm in all emergency circumstances; do not manipulate electrical devices
in humid places; do not touch wet walls, lighting columns, light boxes or cables that have fallen on the street; Vehicle drivers must travel with the
low beams on and wear your seat belt; Make sure you have basic elements to provide an adequate response in the event of an emergency (kit,
drinking water, nonperishable food, flashlight and radio with batteries).

Finally, to small boat operators, tourists and fishermen, They are advised to closely monitor the daily evolution of meteorological and marine conditions. Similarly, It is important that they heed the recommendations issued by the Port Captaincies.
