Corpoguajira, a través de la Oficina del Sistema de Alertas Tempranas, reports that during the last quarter of the year the rains will intensify throughout the department of La Guajira, Therefore, the occurrence of gales cannot be ruled out., thunderstorms, landslides and sudden floods in the rivers that descend from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Serranía del Perijá.

Due to the above, it is recommended to the Disaster Risk Management Councils (Municipal and Departmental), design strategies that allow preventive measures to be taken in the event of an emergency during the coming months.

Consider the following recommendations, for their welfare and that of her entire family:
-Keep Calm emergency in all circumstances.
-Do not handle electrical appliances in damp. Do not touch wet walls, lighting columns, light boxes or cables that have fallen on the street.
-Motorists should take extra security measures, especially low circular lights on and use seat belts.
-If the storm surprises in an open area lying in a fetal position on the floor.
-Remove from areas close to communications antennas.
-Ensure basic elements have to give adequate response in case of an emergency (kit, drinking water, nonperishable food, flashlight and radio with batteries).
