They analyze environmental and social implications of the CCX railroad

Corpoguajira requested the environmental impact studies, to establish if they comply with the terms of reference issued by the Corporation.

The Director General of Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro, participated in the consultation table, to analyze the environmental and social impact of the construction of the railroad and the passage of the train for the transport of coal of the CCX company, by the productive sector of the municipalities of Fonseca and Distracción.

During the event, made in Bogotá D.C, at the Incoder facilities, The highest environmental authority requested a review of the route proposed by the coal company, Likewise, he emphasized that an alternative that generates the least possible impact should be adopted., at a social and environmental level.

To date, CCX has not received environmental impact studies for the railway line layout.. The Corporation recommended making an in-depth analysis of them, as these must take into account the regional planning (POT, POMCAS) and planned socio-economic development in the department.

Corpoguajira will ensure that this project does not generate negative impacts on the environment and its natural resources, Therefore handed CCX terms of reference for the study of environmental impact aspects including: uses of water, air quality, solid waste, cultural dimension, demography, occupation of channels, forestry, fauna, weather, noise, landscape, geology, geomorphology, inter alia.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of CCX, Incoder, Irrigation District Project Beneficiaries Association, Senator Jorge Ballesteros Bernier and the House Representative, Jimmy Sierra Palacio.
