In Urumita Exaserradores Association it was formed Friends of Ebano, made up of thirteen people who now protect the timber resource

Thanks to Corpoguajira's approaches with several groups of wood cutters, the formation of the Association of Ex-sawers Friends of Ebony was achieved, constituted by a group of thirteen people from Urumita.

The main object of the Association, It is your job counterclaim, leaving the illegal sawmill trade, to become godparents, benefactors and protectors of forests. With this great management the entity contributes to the conservation of biodiversity in the peninsula.

With support from Corpoguajira, former sawyers will develop a structured and regulated program for the implementation of forest watchers, as support to the environmental authority; Through the development of business plans and the execution of productive projects, they will receive a decent salary or maintenance allowance.; will promote the establishment of productive forest plantations; will participate in environmental education activities; among other activities.

The Association was legally constituted before the Chamber of Commerce of La Guajira. The Guardians of Nature Ecological Foundation, was the intermediary during this entire process.
