With different academic and cultural activities, Corpoguajira celebrated World Environment Day, designated by the UN 5 June of each year to deepen universal awareness of the need to protect and improve our environment and biodiversity.

The agenda included events in several municipalities of La Guajira, among them San Juan del Cesar, population in which training was carried out for the facilitating teachers of the Ondas project, initiative aimed at the appropriation of science and technology in the children and youth population through the coordination of activities carried out by various institutions and the design of a methodology aimed at conquering interest and passion for scientific and technological research.

In Maicao, Corpoguajira participated as a presenting entity, in a training cycle led by the University of La Guajira, During the day, topics such as alternative energies were addressed, historical evolution of environmental problems in La Guajira, business environmental management, resolution of environmental conflicts, inter alia.

For their part, in Riohacha, students from the El Carmen Ecological Educational Institution, participated in the Great Environment Walk, which had the support of the Corporation and the Ecological and Environmental Police. The students walked the main streets of the capital, with messages alluding to nature conservation.

In the town of Caracolí (San Juan del Cesar) An environmental pedagogical fun day was held that included the participation of the entire community and entities with a presence in the area of ​​the Ranchería River dam., several ecological contests were held, dramatized presentation, recitation of poetry, festival of environmental songs and native cultural samples.

The celebration to commemorate this important date will extend throughout the week with other activities, among which the participation of Corpoguajira in the International Environmental Fair stands out, which takes place in Bogotá 6 the 9 de junio de 2012. In this important event, the highest environmental authority, will announce some of the programs that it is currently carrying out on the peninsula, including the support provided to the Guajira Verde Network, which seeks to generate inter-company cooperation between the green producer organizations of the peninsula in order to improve business performance and achieve adequate production levels.
