ADVANCES THE EXECUTION OF WORKS OF WATER SUPPLY IN 6 INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES

Given the probability of formation of the El Niño phenomenon and heavy drought seasons that have been presented in the department of La Guajira, Corpoguajira negotiated with the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Development project implementation implementation of mitigation and adaptation to climate change to drought in 6 Indigenous communities Riohacha and Maicao.

Paserramana, Savannah, Melons, Saint Paul, Ouispa and Yosumana, located in the district of Riohacha and the municipality of Maicao.

Project implementation will achieve supply the population for human consumption, animal husbandry and crops that provide food security in the area, managing to reduce malnutrition that mostly affects the child population; by drilling over 150 meters for obtaining groundwater, an extraction mechanism with submersible pump and deployment of solar panels for system operation.

In addition, each community is being trained in the operation and maintenance of the systems in order to ensure their sustainability.
