Successfully advance works for the water supply Achintukua

The Director General of Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro; the Director of the Fundación Pro Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Lucas Echeverri Robledo and representatives of the Department for Social Prosperity; made an inspection visit to the water supply works that are being carried out in Achintukua (San Juan del Cesar).

To date, the project presents a preview of the 34%. The purpose of the work is to design and implement comprehensive supply solutions, water treatment and sanitation, to benefit the 400 indigenous people of the Wiwa people.

As part of the work, localization and stakeout activities have been carried out to determine the components of the project through detailed topography.. Additionally, the construction of the sand trap is progressing, a hydraulic structure whose function is to remove particles of a certain size, designed to retain the sand brought in by sewage, which will prevent them from entering the adduction canal, to the hydroelectric plant or treatment process.

During the visit, the concerns expressed by the Wiwa indigenous people were also addressed., through the Governor's Council, Víctor Loperena. It is estimated that the works will finish in the month of November 2014.
