COLOR AND CREATIVITY: PRESENT AT THE PARADE TO CELEBRATE World Environment Day

 

Corpoguajira, Environment Youth Network, instituciones educativas, the Seine, Uniguajira and the Environmental Police, showed the importance of the ¨Connection with Nature¨, slogan proposed by the UN for this environmental date.

A colorful and unique parade alluding to nature, walked the streets of the city to celebrate World Environment Day. This event allowed the participation of Educational Institutions, Sena, University of La Guajira, Corpoguajira Environmental Police and Youth Network.

During the tour, a waste of imagination and color was observed reflected in the construction of animals in danger of extinction., changing rooms, and banners in recyclable material with environmental themes, alluding to the slogan “Connection with Nature”, proposed by the UN to celebrate World Environment Day.

The parade began in India Park and ended in Entrerios Park., which allowed the observation of troupes alluding to the endemic animals of the department. The Turtle, Cardinal Guajiro, the Pink Flamingo, The Iguana, among others, were the animals represented in the troupes of the Sena students..

At the end of the day, Corpoguajira gave an award to the best troupe. Cardinal Guajiro represented by the Sena group that studies Administrative Assistance emerged as winners of the award represented in a visit to the Agroecological and Ecotourism Center of the Río Jérez in Dibulla de Corpoguajira.

Creativity was taken into account for the award, knowledge about the endemic species, the representation of it during the tour and the use of recyclable material for the representation.

Also on World Environment Day, It was held at the southern headquarters of La Guajira – in Fonseca, With the active participation of students from the Sena and Universidad de La Guajira, the recreational and pedagogical day was held, while the academic part was in charge of the official Fernando Prieto with a presentation titled La Guajira Something more than Desert and at the end of the day the documentary “Before it's too late” produced by the actor Leonardo DiCaprio was screened., environmental activist and UN Messenger of Peace. The audiovisual at its premiere was projected in 171 countries and translated into 45 languages.

Why is World Environment Day celebrated??

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution (XXVII) the 15 December 1972 with which the Stockholm Conference began, Sweden, whose central theme was the Environment. It was also then that the creation of the United Nations Environment Program was approved. (UNEP). Thus, has been celebrated uninterruptedly since 5 de junio de 1973.
