FORMULA COMMUNITY Prioritization Matrix TAPIAS BASIN AND SHRIMP

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES By: Maria Angelica Egurrola H.

The activities for the conformation of the Environmental Management and Planning Plans of the Hydrographic Basin (POMCA´s) they progress at a good pace. The holding of two new participatory diagnosis workshops provided information for the characterization of risk management and water quality of the Tapias and Camarones river.

Through cartography, The community designed the matrix for each of the basin areas to prioritize problems and potentials.. These matrices allowed us to establish the places that must be intervened, prioritized and included in the risk management program formulated for each basin.

POMCA's are formulated to prevent environmental deterioration of watersheds, and prevent the impact on the quality of natural resources, mainly the quality of water and therefore its availability in different regions of the country, in this case the Tapia River basin.

Environmental NGOs participated in this characterization, Ediles, J.A.C, Peasant Organizations , Community Leaders, service providers and representatives of secondary education institutions.
