SUCCESSFULLY, THE FIRST MEETING OF THE CARIBBEAN AND INSULAR REGIONAL CLIMATE CHANGE NODE WAS DEVELOPED

The event was held for two days through a virtual platform. The members of the regional node attended, allies of the Ministry of Environment and different entities.

For two consecutive days and through a virtual platform, the First Meeting of the Caribbean and Insular Regional Node on Climate Change - NORECCI was held., main instance of climate change in the region.

The installation was in charge of the General Director of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, Samuel Lanao Robles, who made a call to join efforts in favor of generating changes in the territory taking as a framework the fulfillment of international commitments and national goals in the matter. It should be noted that Corpoguajira, is the entity that serves as the technical secretariat of NORECCI.

The event also presented the different actions carried out by Asocars in terms of climate change and the proposal to create a Regional Environmental Education Committee that works permanently with the node arose..

Similarly, A workshop was developed to identify the needs that arise in the Caribbean Region when it comes to addressing the climate problem. They worked on 4 lines: Projects, financing, climate change research and governance.

Yovany Delgado, Coordinator of the Territorial Environmental Planning Group, described the meeting as "a very good exercise. As technical secretariat we were able to carry out workshops with all departments, institutions and academia that are part of the node that served as the basis for the information we want to collect in the formulation of the new Action Plan of the Node ", pointed out.

The event was attended by each of the members of the node of the 8 departments of the 10 corporations, various allies of the MinAmbiente, entities such as Fondo Acción, GIZ and Director of Asocars.
