The Director General of Corpoguajira, Samuel Lanao Robles, received by the Mayor of Riohacha, José Ramiro Bermúdez Cotes and the President of the District Council, Charles Aguilar Medina; the project through which the environmental and landscape improvement of the green areas will be carried out on La Marina avenue in the capital of the Department.

The works, that will be financed with resources from the environmental surcharge, include demolition and repair of 2.665 linear meters of curbs; the recovery of all green areas along the first street, by sowing more than 7.000 plants, among which the foxtail palm stands out, wedelia, beach grape, green meal, agave, during lemon, inter, which will have irrigation days frequently from Monday to Saturday.

Likewise, The works include the execution of several socialization meetings and a cycle of awareness-raising and dissemination activities on the conservation of urban green areas.

“This project will be of great benefit to the city and will allow the recovery of all the green areas of First Street, with which we will be strengthening the environmental component of Riohacha and beautifying the capital of La Guajira., additionally, the tourism sector in this area of ​​the country is strengthened. With this project we are fulfilling the commitment we made with the mayor to make good use of the resources that citizens are contributing through the environmental surcharge ”Samuel Lanao Robles explained, General Manager Corpoguajira.

Meanwhile, Mayor José Ramiro Bermúdez specified that “these works aim to improve our District and to consolidate the implementation of reforested areas in the city to make it more sustainable, especially in this area which is the main connection sector, recreation and urban tourism that Riohacha has ".

Once the project has been evaluated and the administrative procedures completed, Corpoguajira will start the works, which will have a duration of 14 months. Through this initiative, it also contributes to the generation of a more pleasant microclimate in this sector., increase oxygen production, to clean the air and increase the environmental awareness of citizens.

It should be noted that the work to be carried out is articulated with the District Development Plan, the Corpoguajira Action Plan and the Regional Environmental Management Plan 2021-2031.
