For the first time in the history of Corpoguajira, The Board of Directors of the entity met in the town of Nazareth (Uribia). The meeting was attended by Wayúu Traditional Authorities and community leaders from indigenous reservations of the upper Guajira, who had the opportunity to express different environmental problems suffered by the inhabitants of this area of the peninsula, among them the constant lack of drinking water, disposal of solid waste and hazardous waste generated at the Nazareth Hospital
.
One of the commitments acquired with the communities of Puerto Estrella, was the execution of projects to address the problem of coastal erosion.
As part of the agenda, A meeting was also held with the residents of Puerto Estrella, to analyze the effects that coastal erosion is generating in that locality.
Among the commitments acquired with the community, Corpoguajira will lead with the Government of La Guajira and the Mayor's Office of Uribia; an inter-institutional cooperation alliance, that allows improving the quality of life of the residents of the northern area of the department, through the implementation of actions aimed at mitigating the identified situations.
Additionally, work will be carried out on the execution of productive projects., for the food security of the communities settled in the upper Guajira.
This same month, An interdisciplinary commission from Corpoguajira will travel to these towns, to identify the actions to develop, as part of the agreed commitments.
During the Board of Directors, The emergency plan to face times of drought and the report on the comprehensive management of water resources was also presented..
