CORPOGUAIRA PARTICIPATES IN MEETING OF THE REGIONAL CLIMATE CHANGE NODE CARIBBEAN AND INSULAR

During recent years to Colombia Climate Change it has become a threat, due to the increase in the number of disasters that have affected economically, social and environmental to the country. For this reason, in Colombia, efforts have been joined to consolidate a regulatory framework with instruments that allow GHG mitigation and adaptation actions in the territories in order to generate more resilience to the effects of climate change..

Since the year 2012 Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira – CORPOGUAJIRA has been assuming the role of Technical Secretary of the Regional Node of Caribbean and Insular Climate Change; For this reason, it has been coordinating with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development the procedures that are developed and implemented in the Caribbean region in the area of ​​Climate Change..

Last 24 and 25 In April, the first meeting of the Caribbean and insular regional climate change node was held. 2019, space that had the majority of members who are part of the technical committee of the Node, highlighting the participation of the directors of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of southern Bolívar (CSB) and the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Sinú and San Jorge Valleys (CVS). In this first meeting, the NORECCI Action Plan report was presented by the NRCC Technical Secretariat. 2018, in addition to the balance of the Node Action Plan (2017 – 2020) and the advances that have been obtained with the conformations of the Departmental Tables, Comprehensive Climate Change Plans (PIGCC), and successful experiences presented by some actors such as the Universities that are part of the Node.

It is worth highlighting the participation of the Universidad del Norte, who presented 10 experiences that have been carried out in terms of climate change to increase resilience in different coastal areas of the Caribbean region.

Finally, a participation workshop was held with all the actors, in which the goals established for this year were announced, and the proposals that each entity has been working on from the local level with the aim of being able to replicate and add to the regional initiatives that can be articulated.

The Department of La Guajira also presented the socialization of the "I International Congress of Comprehensive Management against Climate Change", event organized by the University of La Guajira which will take place from 8 the 10 May and invites you to learn about global advances in research and development of experiences and applicable technologies for mitigation and adaptation to the effects of Climate Change, adding to the general call to effectively and comprehensively implement the necessary measures to avoid another period of global decline with climate origin.
