CORPOGUAJIRA BENEFITS INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES WITH REPAIR OF MILLS AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AGRICULTURAL FARMS

In the face of a health emergency due to the presence of the new Covid-19 coronavirus, Corpoguajira has intensified works to provide water and guarantee food security to indigenous communities in Manaure, Riohacha, Maicao and Albania through the repair of 60 windmills and the implementation of farms for agricultural production.

The Punta Sierra community, located in Riohacha, It is the first beneficiary of this project with which it seeks to increase water security and constant availability of water in the beneficiary communities as well as contributing significantly to the reduction of malnutrition rates in the intervened population.

Each community will also be able to raise awareness of the importance of implementing saving techniques and efficient use of water as a measure of adaptation to climate change and the inhabitants will receive training in good agricultural practices, which will allow them to optimize the soil conditions for the sowing and harvesting of staple products.
