Within the framework of the campaign “With the environment for peace”, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, simultaneously summoned the Regional Autonomous Corporations of the country to carry out tree planting days as an act of reconciliation with the environment.

In this sense, Corpoguajira carried out in the town of Conejo (Fonseca), the “Plant a tree” day, sowing life ", with the purpose of linking local authorities, instituciones educativas, and community in general; to the protection and preservation of the environment, and the construction of a peaceful scenario in the region.

During the course of the day, recognition was made of the people who experienced situations of forced displacement from their territories.. An agreement of wills was also signed where attendees committed from their roles to manage natural resources and not to forget that the environment was also a victim of the armed conflict in Colombia..

This activity was sealed with the delivery of approximately one thousand trees, of which were planted symbolically, several of them in the main square. The rest of the trees will be planted by the inhabitants of Conejo themselves in strategic points.

According to figures from the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, el 58 % of the country's deforestation has occurred in areas affected by the Colombian armed conflict, what motivated the 33 Regional Autonomous Corporations of the country to join together to plant jointly near 70 thousand trees in the national territory and set a precedent of reconciliation with natural resources.
