The 17 December 2014, Corpoguajira fulfilled 31 Years of Creation. More than three decades of continuous work and articulated with environmental organizations, public entities, Private, academia and the community at large; all under one vital purpose: the development, the preservation and protection of natural resources, ecosystems and biodiversity of La Guajira.

To celebrate this important event, the Corporation made this week a series of activities, including academic and cultural events highlighted.

 

Maremágnum, a song of love for the oceans

The Corporation invited the community at large to the presentation of the play musical Maremágnum, a staging in which actors recognized the country participated, committed to the conservation of our seas and the planet's biodiversity.

The activity was supported by Ecopetrol Association - Chevron, Petrobras and Cerrejon. The play was written and produced by Marta Liliana Ruiz, under the direction of Yesenia Valencia. It featured special performances by Norma Nivia, Fernando Monje, Jenny Vargas, inter alia.

Competition awards La Guajira and Biodiversity

Another event was the award of the second version of La Guajira Contest and Biodiversity, where they were winners: Emelda Wberth and Erick Mejia in the category video; Ana Cecilia Fuentes, in the category of communication media and the educational institution Ismael Fuentes Rodriguez (El Molino), in the category Academy.

 

Liberation of 400 Palomino sea turtles

Corpoguajira, Environmental and Campesino Organization of Palomino and actors Maremágnum, conducted release 400 sea ​​turtles on the beaches of Palomino (Dibulla). This important management became part of the alliance between the environmental authority and a group of people that population, trained in the conservation of this species, under the program Adopt a Turtle and take it in your heart.

 

Launch Ethnobotany Book of Lower Rio Palomino

The publication was socialized in Palomino (Dibulla), The book was written by Francisco Javier Franco Ospina. The work is a tribute to agrobiodiversity Caribbean and the territory Tayrona. It is a call to the conservation of different ecosystems, which they are necessary for maintaining life forms present in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, which are in danger, with the expansion of monoculture pastures, banana and African palm.
