In pursuance of its corporate action plan, Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, prioritizes indigenous communities with the purpose of mitigating the effects of climate change in the department.

With the management and execution of a project that during 10 months implemented actions to counteract the needs of the residents, today is a success, by drilling approximately 150 meters for obtaining groundwater, by an extraction mechanism with submersible pump, by deploying solar panels for system operation.

Savannah, a community that for years suffered from the scarcity of water that took over the territories where Wayuú indigenous people settled in the department live.; Corpoguajira, faced with the latent need, managed a project that allows the inhabitants to have water suitable for consumption. 24 hours of the day, generating a prosperous and sustainable territory.

Benefit that the community of Los Melones also has, those who currently enjoy this precious liquid; without leaving behind the significant benefits that having treated water allows, drinking fountains for animals in the area, and a garden with an irrigation system that allows the cultivation of seeds typical of their culture.
