CORPOGUAJIRA CONTRIBUTES WITH PEACE BUILDING AND LASTING STABLE

Support for productive projects and community tourism in Pondores

A new option within the tourist offers that La Guajira offers for its national and international visitors was presented by fourteen members of the FARC in the Territorial Training and Standardization Space –ETCR- in the village of Pondores, municipality of Fonseca.

The participants presented the formulation of the project entitled “Community and Rural Tourism in the village of Pondores in the municipality of Fonseca”, as an initiative within the economic and social reintegration process and of course environmental.

In the execution of this project, Corpoguajira will support the initiative by providing its expertise in topics such as: Ecotourism Training, design of joint strategies to carry out inventory in Flora and Fauna, Trekking, Reforestación, Certification, Promotion and implementation of green businesses.

The objective of the project is the construction of an Eco-tourism and Cultural Center as a sustainable strategy for the Serranía del Perijá that allows the reconstruction of the territory and the conflict to generate a space for reconciliation, learning and recreation; while learning about the history of the peace process and enjoying the nature of the place.

The execution of this project not only allows the diversification of the offer of existing tourist services in La Guajira, It will also contribute to the generation of more than 50 direct jobs for FARC members who are in the process of reincorporation.

Corpoguajira also participated in the Territorial Training and Standardization Space –ETCR, the Government of La Guajira, the Mayor's Office of Fonseca, the Seine, department tour operators, the Reintegration and Normalization Agency, the University of La Guajira and members of the second UN Mission.
