Corpoguajira convocó al Comité Contra los Delitos Ambientales para concertar medidas de mitigación a los efectos de la sequía

The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira called the Committee Against Environmental Crimes of La Guajira, jointly to arrange an interagency strategy, coordinated and articulated that contribute to control and mitigate the effects of this phenomenon of climate variability, caused in large part by the actions they take people and industries that seriously affect the elements of natural resources such as air, Water, floor, fauna and flora.

The event was chaired by the Governor of La Guajira, Oneida Pinto Pérez; the Director General of Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro, entes territoriales, representatives of the Police and the Army; Ombudsman, Prosecutor General's Office, among other organizations. This initiative is part of the National Committee for Environmental Control, created to facilitate cross-sectoral management through prevention and control measures to strengthen environmental management and conservation of our renewable natural resources.

As part of the meeting various commitments agreed, including strengthening actions release channels in rivers Rancheria, Tapias, Marquezote, And Canal Mocho Robles, with the support of the authorities; check the cables of the aqueducts that supply the southern municipalities of La Guajira, to identify and dismantle the illegal connections that may exist; measures will be arranged with the police to counter the illegal use of forest resources and the extraction of material drag.

Members of the board also agreed to carry out environmental awareness sessions in the different municipalities of the department, linking environmental lookouts that provide support for the control of river beds and undertake studies to bring water solutions to the residents of La Junta, The Rock and The Haticos (San Juan del Cesar).
