With the launch of this project, It is possible to provide the communities with the basic infrastructure for the continuous and good quality supply of water for consumption by its inhabitants., thus guaranteeing that the benefited population enjoys this service.

The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira-Corpoguajira, has been working responsibly for the execution of projects aimed at improving the coverage levels of aqueduct and sewerage services in the communities of the department.

Thus, that the Corporation carried out the construction of wells and complementary works for the supply of water in the Afro-descendant communities of the townships of Juan y Medio and Las Palmas (Riohacha). The catchment of the water (Tapias river), is through a photovoltaic solar energy pumping system and distribution networks; guaranteeing water 24 hours of the day in the homes. The beneficiaries of this project are around 2.797 people.

It is a function of The Corporation among others, promote and execute water supply programs for indigenous communities, black, afrocolombianas, roots and crowbars; traditionally settled in the area of ​​jurisdiction of the environmental entity.

Within the Corpoguajira action plan (2016-2019), seeks to work in coordination with competent authorities through the Environmental Management Branch (Integral Management Group of Water Resources), for the execution of infrastructure works to collect and / or store water for the aforementioned communities, among which stand out, micro-aqueduct construction.

It should be noted that the technology developed for this project does not generate environmental deterioration, does not pollute and does not require periodic supply of chemical substances. Regarding the community, will be trained through workshops that generate a sense of belonging and ownership of the project for optimal operation.
