A delegation of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira headed by the Director General, Luis Medina Toro, He traveled to the town of Juan y Medio (District jurisdiction Riohacha) to deliver the works of breakwaters in gabions up to the river Tapias. This structure was built in order to prevent erosion caused by the river flow affects aqueduct networks that pass through its shore, just like what happened a couple of years ago in this area.

During the meeting called for the delivery of the work, some members of this community were very grateful for the work ahead in its territory Corpoguajira, to the relief it is to have water service without worrying about the effects of river erosion Tapias. Please note that for the implementation of this project, he had the active participation of the Minister of the Corporation, for the Afro-descendant communities, the Johanis Mejía Mendoza, who was present at the meeting along with delegates from the National Police, the National Army, Incoder and representatives of the district government of Riohacha and the Government of La Guajira.

In addition to preventing the harmful effects of erosion, with these civil works, Corpoguajira also contributes to combating the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon that has been plaguing the department of La Guajira for several months now., for which we also have the collaboration of Cerrejón, organization that will deliver water tanks and hoses to the community.

With this new work, the company demonstrates its commitment to improving the quality of life of people guajiro, without this compromising the balance of our rivers, benefiting the population of Juan y Medio and its surroundings, where the majority of its inhabitants are of African descent.
