Corpoguajira was selected to present, in Dominican Republic, its management to mitigate the effects of climate change

The Corporation was invited by USAID, after establishing the excellent management carried out by the entity to counteract the effects of climate change in La Guajira

The Director General of Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro; in the company of the Control and Monitoring Coordinator, Eliumat Maza Samper y dthe Director of Environment and Social Housing of the Municipality of Riohacha, Deider Valdes Gonzalez; during the academic event on climate change taking place in Santo Dominigo.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), selected Corpoguajira and the Mayor's Office of Riohacha, to participate in the Regional Academy on Climate Leadership, event that takes place starting today in the Dominican Republic, with the purpose of analyzing aspects related to increasing resilience to climate change and infrastructure services in cities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Corporation's delegation is made up of the General Director, Luis Manuel Medina Toro and the Control and Monitoring Coordinator, Eliumat Maza Samper. Meanwhile, The Municipality of Riohacha is represented by the Director of Environment and Social Housing, Deider Valdes Gonzalez; who will present the advances developed to mitigate the effects of climate change on the peninsula, especially the work that allowed obtaining the diagnosis to identify the effects of this phenomenon in the urban wetlands of Riohacha and the measures to counteract coastal erosion in the capital of La Guajira.

The selection made by USAID, It was carried out after establishing the excellent management carried out on this issue by Corpoguajira and the Mayor's Office of Riohacha., which has contributed to reducing vulnerabilities, mitigate risks and improve the performance of infrastructure systems.

The event culminates on 28 March 2014, in Santo Domingo. The participation of the representatives of La Guajira was assumed in its entirety by USAID.
