Last 9 March, Corpoguajira led a table in order to ensure the water supply of communities in the lower basin of the river Ranchería.El event was held at the Territorial Headquarters Fonseca, where they participated user associations river, Rural Development Agency and mayors of the southern department.

Considering the supply and demand for agricultural activities in this area of ​​the department, it was agreed with the Agency for Rural Development, entity that manages the reservoir El Cercado, the release of 8m3 / s of water during the day and 10m3 / s at night, for four months.

With the amount of liquid agreed, which it is based on monitoring and operation of the reservoir, It seeks to ensure a stable flow for indigenous communities in the lower area in addition to the amount necessary to ensure that users of agricultural associations successfully achieve their projects.

For proper implementation of the agreement, monthly monitoring visits will be conducted to measure the flow in the lower river Rancheria, further request the Agency for Rural Development few visits for assessment and improvement of the irrigation canals that irrigate rice crops in the municipalities of Fonseca, Barrancas and Distraction.
