The BANCO2 program consists of the periodic delivery of an economic incentive to selected families, who, as compensation, are obliged to protect and conserve a certain number of hectares of tropical dry forest within the property where they live. Financial support will be delivered through allowances for one year, with possibilities of extending the agreement. Son 130 the number of hectares that the twelve beneficiary families of the BANCO2 program committed to protect and conserve in the Montes de Oca Protective Forest Reserve. The selected ecosystems are located in the Colombia Libre villages, The Paraujanos and La Chingolita, all in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Maicao. In addition to the protection and care of the forest, The peasant families committed to reforest one hectare of their property, which indicates that at the end of the agreement there will be twelve hectares reforested.
