Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira after the need to maintain a healthy and clean environment as a guarantee of quality of life, implements environmental actions for the integrated management of solid waste in the municipalities of La Jagua del Pilar, Urumita and El Molino, hand with Agroambiental Association Perija and mayors of municipalities. This project aims to promote environmental culture of source separation of solid waste to avoid contamination in homes, so socialization and awareness seminars were held in each municipality. In addition these actions seek to strengthen the institutional structure of municipalities in promoting civic culture through environmental summonses. The implementation of this project has brought positive results, mitigating the negative impacts generated by mismanagement of solid waste in these municipalities,Also extending the life of the regional landfill south of the department. The total collection of solid waste was 78.16 tons, surpassing expectations 12.66 tons. Además, the project intended to benefit 800 families in the three municipalities and the end of the project could benefit 890 families surpassing expectations 11 %.
