CORPOGUAJIRA IMPLEMENTS PROJECT FOR THE REHABILITATION OF FOREST ECOSYSTEMS IN DIBULLA

In the sectors of the basins and micro-basins of the Ancho rivers, Black and Maluisa.

With the aim of rehabilitating degraded areas of gallery forests, buffer zones and areas affected by forest fires in the Ancho rivers, Black, Maluisa and others direct to the Caribbean, the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira - Corpoguajira implements an ecosystem rehabilitation project in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Dibulla, benefiting the 39.069 habitantes, including the indigenous population of Arimaca.

Among the activities that the project has contemplated are: carry out the establishment of the plantation in degraded areas with their respective georeferencing; carry out the fencing of plant covers of gallery forests and / or riparia; establish the assembly of monitoring plots. As well as environmental awareness and generation of conservation agreements with the benefited communities.

Inhabitants of the sector were satisfied with the implementation of the project and in turn thanked the Corporation for working on the conservation of the watersheds.

"With great satisfaction we receive the project, a dual purpose project first because it is reforestation and second because we receive the economic incentive that is very useful to our communities. Además, it contributes to conserving where we have so many water sources and forests ", Javier Hernández specified, sector inhabitant.

Meanwhile, the representative of the Afro community of the village of El Mamey, indicated "we are satisfied, happy and nourished by this project that will be of great service to the community as well as to the environment. We have waited a long time for this project to be given to us because the truth is that the ecosystem has been damaged by fires, summer and with it we hope to recover all the species that have been lost ". Similarly, took the opportunity to thank the Corporation and its work team for their commitment to the environment and the territory.

The Director General of Corpoguajira, Samuel Lanao Robles, highlighted that they will be around 350 thousand plants that are going to be planted especially trees that are in danger of extinction and that are typical of the dry forest.

Likewise, called on the community to conserve and maintain the trees that are planted. “The community is an ally in this purpose of the Corporation to sustain and conserve our strategic ecosystems. We hope that these trees remain in time ", concluded.
