Through the resolutions 2519 the 26 December 2016 and the 0021 the 6 January 2017, Corpoguajira imposed two (2) preventive measures to the company Grodco S.C.A. Civil Engineers, for carrying out extraction activities of drag material, which have been generating effects on the dynamics of the Cotoprix river flow.

The measures consist of the suspension of the works or activities referring to the crushing plant, located in Mongui; and to the exploitation of channel construction materials, Beaches and terraces deposited by the Cotoprix River in jurisdiction of the municipality of Riohacha.

The above obeys, that this company carried out intervention on the waterference channel, evidencing different effects and breach of the obligations established in the environmental license (Resolution 2046 of 2008), and permits granted by the Corporation.

The technical report by the Environmental Monitoring Group, evidence that landscape pollution occurs, Cauce obstruction by stacking drag material inside the river bed, forming the damage of the same. Likewise, undercutting for erosion formed by the bifurcation of the channel, addressing the current towards the margins, destabilizing the slopes (mainly) of the right side. It is also recorded extraction of the drag material, undressing and stirring material from the riverbed floor.

It was also evidenced that the company does not carry out strategic signaling activities of an informative type, Preventive and prohibitive, established as the fences and notices; to control all permanence of people and vehicles in the material extraction zone.

The measures imposed will be maintained until the company does not cease the affectation to the environment and/or natural resources, and each of the previously related findings is demonstrated or subsane, being registered in the report dated by 5 January 2017.
