The environmental authority and Circle for Excellence Southern La Guajira, will sign an agreement in order to protect the quality of the environment in areas of livestock use, this area of ​​the department.

Corpoguajira and the Circle for Excellence Southern La Guajira, will sign tomorrow an agreement of wills, through which technical assistance mechanisms will be implemented, program development, Projects, works, actions and technical cooperation; in order to improve environmental quality in several areas of livestock use, this area of ​​the department.

As part of the alliance, actions to environmental and social conversion of livestock production activity on the use of natural resources on private lands will be executed; the establishment of silvopastoral systems (hedgerows, mixed fodder banks, natural regeneration in pastures, windbreaks, trees, bushes in strips, inter alia); sustainable water management, soil and air; proper disposal of waste and effluents resulting from production processes; biodiversity conservation, renewable energy and the production of milk and meat with good agricultural practices.

Livestock is an important sector of the provincial economy, so it requires technical assistance and advice from Corpoguajira, to guide this activity efficiently, in terms of increased productivity and improved environmental development, considering their significant impact on the environment and the intensive use of natural resources.

Among the actions to also stand: the establishment of native trees and fruit in mixed systems with pastures, shrubs and livestock; research actions and environmental management on various issues related to the restoration and rehabilitation of ecosystems with environmentally sustainable management of productive land; forest fire prevention barriers pyro-resistant vegetation; generate innovative ecosystem restoration schemes with broad community participation, to transform degraded areas in suitable environments for human activities and wildlife.

The voluntary agreement will last two years, subscription to take place from the 9:00 am, en el municipio de Fonseca.
