The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, inició una investigación ambiental, con el propósito de establecer la causa de la muerte de aproximadamente 500 peces, found in days gone by along the shores of Riohacha.

Officials from the Ecosystems area and the Corpoguajira Environmental Laboratory, They stated that it is the key catfish species. The study included the collection of water samples at three different points, to analyze the contaminant load, presence of heavy metals, temperature, PH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, among other variables. Additionally, whole fish were taken, to carry out a toxicological study.

The analysis will be carried out jointly between Corpoguajira and the José Vives de Andreis Marine and Coastal Research Institute. (Invemar), based in Santa Marta.

The result of the study, will be known in the coming weeks.
