Taking advantage of the spaces to raise awareness, the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira – CORPOGUAJIRA held the day to expand plant coverage in public areas of the district of Riohacha, aiming in an articulated way at the construction of a green city.
The sectors of Circunvalar Avenue and La Marina Avenue were the epicenter of this conservation gesture by the entities involved and citizens are interested in having a healthy environment. Species like Pui, Cotoprix, Tostao Corn and Calabazo or Totumo were part of the trees planted due to their easy adaptation to the conditions of the region.
During the day the district Mayor was present and divided, Juan Carlos Suaza accompanied by the Director of Environment and Social Housing, Jair Lorenzo Quintero reiterating the commitment of his administration to adopt the planted specimens, carrying out its maintenance and care from now on.
Another of the milestones achieved through this Conference is that it has been an arborization process that has used the “Stockosorb” system., a hydro-retainer that guarantees the concentration of humidity in the planted trees, this in order to guarantee on a large scale the survival of individuals in the face of severe droughts.
The day to expand plant coverage also had the participation and support of the PRESERVAR Corporation, Environment Youth Network, students of the Livio Reginaldo Fischione Educational Institution, Councilman Charles Aguilar (delegate of the District Council of Riohacha), SENA students, and community in general committed to the environment. As a result of the success of the day, a second activity is being coordinated to complete the tree planting of the selected public areas..
