Looking for strengthening environmental care and teaching related to the use of natural resources knowledge, related to sustainable development, The Biodiversity, air quality, Water, waste management and different environmental impacts; We respect the cultural and differential approach of each of the communities that were essential for the development of Environmental Culture on Wheels, being one of the environmental strategies that impacts more 5.500 people of the 15 municipalities in the department.
For that, The Corpoguajira mobile unit is the properly equipped rolling tool that allows the development of the initiative known as Environmental Culture on Wheels. During his journey through different municipalities and townships of La Guajira, he disseminates environmental knowledge in educational centers., barrios, communes, ethnic associations,afro communities, in the UCA of the ICBF(Community Care Units) inter. Anyone interested can access it., as long as there is the intention to contribute to the strengthening and generation of environmental awareness.
Environmental Culture on Wheels, due to its itinerant nature, serves as a transmitting element, of specific awareness campaigns for compliance with the Urban Environmental Management Policy through the ICAU (Urban Environmental Quality Index), which is the tool formulated by the MinAmbiente to evaluate the environmental sustainability of urban areas.
The pedagogical approach of Environmental Culture on Wheels allows the playful expression of the participants and includes the holding of afternoons, ecological nights and days that are carried out in communities and educational institutions. To impart this knowledge, Corpoguajira resorts to the projection of educational videos with environmental content, explanatory talks and workshops that allow recognizing the natural wealth of the department and the implementation of what has been learned in each community.
With these activities we want to contribute to raising awareness among citizens., with respect to environmental conflicts specific to urban environments and to actively participate in the protection, defense, conservation and improvement of the environment and the enhancement of the capacity for self-learning, making the most of curiosity and spontaneous interest.
