The commemorative events of Corpoguajira, to celebrate International Tree Day, will continue tomorrow 19 October 2013, in the municipalities of the south of the peninsula; to complete the goal of 50.000 plants planted by the environmental authority.
The day will have the advice and technical assistance of the Corporation; Environmental and community leaders will participate in the activity. Through this program, The entity supports the national carbon footprint mitigation strategy and contributes to mitigating the effects of global warming, in this area of the country.
The activity has the support of the Municipality of Riohacha, Cerrejón, Geceli by, Pacific Rubiales, Peninsula waters, Aså, Social Management Division of Cerrejón, Chevron, National Army, National Police, Red Together, Santa Marta concession – Paraguachón, University veedurías, Colba, Community Action Boards, leaders, promoters, lookouts environmental, among other entities that have articulated work with the Corporation to contribute to a more prosperous and sustainable Guajira.
The 12 October 2013, A first day of tree planting was successfully carried out in six municipalities of the department, through which they were sown 13.500 trees
The celebration of Arbor Day was instituted in 1969 by the World Forestry Congress, in Rome. On that date it seeks to highlight the importance of trees in the life of planet Earth, Ecosystem, flora, wildlife and humans.
