The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira granted the unique forest harvesting permit and imposed a series of environmental management measures for banned species (national and regional) for the construction of the new prison facility in the District of Riohacha.

This is how Samuel Lanao Robles explained it, General Manager Corpoguajira, who additionally specified that through said authorization an environmental compensation plan was also established, which will consist of the reforestation of 10,23 hectares, with species similar to those intervened, whose location will be an ecosystem of interest or protected area determined by the entity to carry out said ecological restoration.

"In the framework of this process we have been very cautious to act as established by environmental regulations.. The corresponding technical visits have been carried out to characterize the floristic composition and evaluate the species in the area, in order to minimize the impact on the vegetation cover ", added Lanao Robles.
Likewise, indicated that "with the delivery of the permit the entity approved, from the environmental component, the construction of this work that is of great relevance to Riohacha, since the current situation of the inmates is not the best ".

The technical work developed by Corpoguajira also made it possible to define the reforestation equivalences by the permit issued.; In this sense, for each tree in the regional ban, ten, and for each unit taken advantage of from the national ban, three.

In relation to the species of fauna identified and captured in the area, must be reported and delivered to the environmental authority for their respective relocation to another site that presents the same ecosystem.
