The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira-Corpoguajira, concerned about the phenomenon of illegal logging and its significance in the department, convened the Chainsaw Guild with the purpose of looking for better options that reduce illegal trafficking of forest resources.

In this sense, The Corporation has been carrying out actions aimed at the labor reconversion of families whose activity is the inappropriate use of felling trees of prohibited species., restricted or infrequent.

In said meeting, The environmental entity raised some points, that are aimed at finding employment alternatives for families who carry out this informal activity. For that, will be carried out (initially) a characterization, in order to apply business plans and the execution of productive projects according to the region.

The Corporation also proposed permanent support for wood sawyers, before the entities of the National Government, to achieve financing of projects and alternatives that allow the change of activity.

Starting the commitments assumed, Corpoguajira has been managing before Social Prosperity, the financing of the Socio-Labor Reconversion Program for this population.
