Corpoguajira presenta plan para iniciar la recuperación de los manglares

Corpoguajira invites citizens to participate in the socialization of the pilot project for the restoration of mangrove ecosystems in the Los Flamencos Flora and Fauna Sanctuary and the Musichi Integrated Management District. The activity will take place next 18 of August in the Lecture Hall of the Nellit Abuchaibe Abuchaibe Library, located in the facilities of the University of La Guajira from the 9:00am.
The event will be held to show the importance of mangrove ecosystems for the department of La Guajira, focusing on the results obtained in studies carried out by the Corporation together with local communities and institutions where landscape areas that demonstrate potential for the restoration of mangrove ecosystems were identified and prioritized., evaluating the current status of these sites, its level of deterioration and the causes of ecosystem degradation.
The aforementioned studies added to the consultation with local communities and institutions, led to the development of the Basic Restoration and Monitoring Plan for mangrove ecosystems in two protected areas, which will allow preliminary actions to be carried out aimed at the recovery of these ecosystems..
To carry out this project, Corpoguajira had the support of National Natural Parks, Big Group Salianas of Colombia, the José Ladeus Environmental Watchers Foundation and Funlamar.
