The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, extended for a term of twelve months the water concessions granted for public use of the Ranchería River and its main tributaries that run through the municipalities of San Juan del Cesar, Distracción, Fonseca, Barrancas, Hatonuevo, India, Maicao, Manaure and Riohacha.

This was explained by the General Director of Corpoguajira, Samuel Lanao Robles, who stated that the measure was adopted through Resolution 2204 December 2021.

“We inform all users whose use is not within the so-called aqueduct services that we have made this extension, to promote the responsible use of water resources. We reiterate that for the Corporation it is very important to regulate the use of water because it is necessary to guarantee its conservation and proper management., as well as that of its channels”, added.

sustainable management of the water resources of the Ranchería River, in an articulated way between all the actors that benefit from this important basin of the department.

“As an environmental authority, it is our duty to ensure the rational use of water, in such a way that it can be used and distributed equitably to the inhabitants of the region, for this we take into account what is the existing water supply and what is the demand, which also allows us to prevent possible conflicts between users”, the official pointed out.
