As part of the process of updating the regulation of the use of the waters of the Cesar River, the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira made the socialization of this project with various users of said basin, in
the municipalities of San Juan del Cesar and Villanueva.

In this sense, The environmental authority announced the scope of the works that are being carried out to achieve the recovery of the conditions of this natural current, to meet current and future development demands, in areas with high and low water resource occupation index.

"This adjustment is fundamental due to the water shortage that we have in the Department; reason why we need to be prepared for the strong blows of climate change. It is pertinent that ,together with the community, let's organize the use of water so that each user has their specified flow and we know exactly what and how it is being used ", explained Samuel Lanao Robles, CEO of
Corpoguajira.

Likewise, noted that updating the actual and potential supply of the Cesar River, allows greater control over the number of concessions granted by the entity for the use of the resource and the flows required in accordance with the activity being carried out; in the same way it will serve to renew the user database and, given the case, declare depletion reserves for currents that are in
critical condition.

The area of ​​influence of the works covers 177.623 hectares delimited between the municipalities of El Molino, La Jagua del Pilar, Urumi, Villanueva y San Juan del Cesar. The project will have a duration of ten months.

It should be noted that the process of reviewing and modifying the regulation of public waters of the Cesar river basin was made official through Resolution No.. 0614 of 2021, expedida por Corpoguajira.
