CORPOGUAJIRA WILL HOLD COASTAL EROSION TECHNICAL TABLE TO TREAT PROBLEMS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF DIBULLA

"We hope the national authorities can support us and help us to better address this situation", said Samuel Lanao Robles, Managing Director.

The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira - Corpoguajira will hold the next 15 September, a technical table on coastal erosion to address the problem that currently afflicts the department and that requires urgent attention, especially in the municipality of Dibulla.

For that, the General Director of the Corporation, Samuel Lanao Robles, programmed an inter-institutional table that involves all officials and entities that have to do with the prevention and mitigation of risks associated with coastal erosion.

"The call seeks to analyze the situation of coastal erosion in the department of La Guajira and see how national entities can support us to better address this situation", stressed the Director of the environmental authority, who also specified that within the entities to participate are the Directorate of Coastal Marine Affairs of the Ministry of the Environment, Colombian Geological Survey, Dimar, National Risk Management Unit, Indemar, northern University. Also the mayors of the four coastal municipalities of the department, the Risk Management Unit and the Government of La Guajira.

Worth noting, that the greatest effects of coastal erosion in the municipality of Dibulla occur in the township of Palomino and in Punta de los Remedios. "These two townships are the hardest hit by loss of coastline. The intervention of the competent entities is urgent. However, We cannot forget the municipality of Riohacha, for example in the Nuevo Faro neighborhood, Jose Antonio Galán, Marbella. In Manaure the village of El Pájaro, in Alta Guajira Puerto Estrella and the Cabo de La Vela sector ", stated Lanao Robles.

Finally, The Director of Corpoguajira calls on national authorities and territorial entities to pay greater attention to the situation that is endangering property and life of many people. "We have to act before an unfortunate event can happen", concluded.
