The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira (Corpoguajira), se convierte en la primera entidad pública del departamento en recibir la Certificación de Calidad ISO 9001:2008, NTCGP:2009 y la Certificación Internacional IQ Net, by the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards ICONTEC, by implementing policies, planes, programs and projects on the environment and renewable natural resources in the area of ​​jurisdiction, ensuring available, administration, management and use; accordance with the regulations, standards and guidelines, issued by the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Development.

La entrega oficial de las certificaciones, It will be held on Wednesday 29 de junio de 2011, en un acto público al que asistirán directivos de la Corporación, representantes de ICONTEC y de entidades del orden regional y nacional.

ICONTEC ISO certification 9001 Quality management system, provides a solid foundation for a management system, in terms of satisfactory compliance with the requirements of the sector and excellence in performance, characteristics compatible with other requirements and standards such as the Environmental Management System, occupational health and safety, and food safety, inter alia.

La certificación ICONTEC NTCGP 1000, allows State entities to demonstrate that they meet the requirements of a quality management system, as required by law 872/2003. It makes it easier for institutions that comply with the standard to demonstrate their improvement, performance and ability to provide products and services that meet the needs and expectations of its customers. Improves the image of public entities before their clients-citizens and control entities, for having a certified quality management system.

En el marco de este evento, Corpoguajira realizará el lanzamiento de dos importantes obras editadas con el apoyo de la Corporación, son ellas: el Atlas Ambiental de La Guajira y el Libro Fauna Silvestre de la Reserva Forestal Protectora Montes de Oca.

El Atlas Ambiental de La Guajira, es una herramienta que en sus 189 pages contributes to the effective practice of environmental management; en este trabajo se desarrolla una moderna interpretación y representación cartográfica del territorio, which allows the diffusion of environmental reality of the department. A través de imágenes, figuras, gráficos y cuadros se representan casos muy característicos de las estructuras territoriales y de su población. Este producto fué elaborado en asocio con la Unión temporal atlas.

Con el libro Fauna Silvestre de la Reserva Forestal Protectora Montes de Oca, se espera fortalecer la consolidación de ésta nueva área protegida y contribuir en la conservación de uno de los ecosistemas mas amenazados de Colombia, as is the dry tropical forest and its associated biodiversity. The work was produced in partnership with Colombia Organization Acts, la cual adelanta proyectos de carácter ambiental consciente de la necesidad de propender por un cambio entre el ser humano y la naturaleza. Montes de Oca, es una “Joya de la biodiversidad de La Guajira”, que incluye las dos terceras partes de todos los anfibios conocidos para la región Caribe, más de la mitad de la riqueza de reptiles; un poco menos de la tercera parte de las aves conocidas en la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, y más de la mitad de los mamíferos de la Costa Atlántica, en una superficie que es miles de veces más pequeña que la de cualquier área protegida de carácter nacional.
