The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, required the District of Riohacha, immediately implement the adoption of corrective actions, preventive and necessary measures that provide a solution to the problem presented in Matitas, due to the overflow of manjoles and the dumping of sewage in the urban area of said township.
The environmental authority requested the implementation of a contingency plan to immediately address the events revealed.; thus allowing a period of waiting until
the definitive works contemplated in the Sanitation and Discharge Management Plan – PSMV – begin- approved for that population.
This is what Samuel Lanao Robles pointed out, General Manager Corpoguajira, who indicated that the measure was adopted after a technical visit in which representatives of the
environmental entity, the District of Riohacha and members of the community.
Additionally, he revealed that “the mayor's office already has an environmental investigation opened by Corpoguajira., Since the year 2019, due to non-compliance with Resolution No. 2150 of 2018, through which the PSMV of Matitas was approved. However, the presentation of semiannual reports on physical progress has not been evident., nor the annual statements of pollution load reduction”.
