The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, He closed an administrative investigation – Environmental against the Municipality of Barrancas, initiated by Auto No 745 the 05 de Diciembre de 2011, by improper disposal of solid waste, in transient cell final disposal site.
The fine to be paid by the municipality of Barrancas is $85.070.419.
According to the technical visit by officials Control and Monitoring group entity, garbage disposal in the current cell in the municipality of Barrancas, does not meet the appropriate health and environmental requirements. There is proliferation of vectors, offensive odors, untreated runoff and low operational capacity evidence for efficient treatment of waste.
The highest environmental authority, It states that the most appropriate disposal of these wastes is by duly licensed landfills, as it is from the regional landfill Southern Guajira; why it was recommended immediately overtake operations for closing the transient cell that municipality operates.
Once depleted in probation, no evidence was provided to Corpoguajira, nor the practice of these requested, why it proceeded to said sanction the municipality of Barrancas, based on the criteria outlined in the Colombian laws.
Notification of the administrative act was performed by edict, until the day 4 January this year. The deadline to appeal the sanction expires 14 from January.
