The Institute of Marine and Coastal Research José Benito Vives de Andreis (Invemar), He trained the group of Ecosystems and Biodiversity Corpoguajira, to contribute to the strengthening of the information system for the management of the department's mangroves.

Through this tool, knowledge and research of the mangrove ecosystem in the peninsula is promoted., Additionally, the tool facilitates decision-making and the implementation of measures that allow its sustainable use., management and conservation.

The content of the workshop includes topics related to the presentation of the system, tools, functionalities and information loading management. The activity was part of an agreement signed between the Ministry of Environment and Invemar.

The training was led by the Biologist Alexandra Rodríguez and the Systems Engineer Juan Manuel Rodríguez. The importance of mangroves lies in their high production of organic matter, Additionally, they promote biodiversity, since they serve as a refuge and nursery for a large number of fish and crustaceans.
